The Story of Son Shine

The Story of Son Shine

On Thursday, June 17, 2004, the very first edition of Son Shine was emailed to less than 70 people of various nationalities. It was titled “The 38 Factor” and told the story of a woman who married at the age of 38 and gave her testimony in a church in Abeokuta, Ogun State, Nigeria, with tears rolling down her cheeks. Her family and friends had written off the possibility of her ever getting married and even when she did, she almost lost the first child whom she was clutching.

Since then, Son Shine has been emailed weekly (often on Thursday) to encourage the hopeless, tell of the extraordinary power of the Almighty God, give account of the triumph of faith and the interventions of God in the affairs of men, focus on various issues of life, highlight mysterious happenings in lives, and speak of courage in the face of odds…

Jebezel (A peep
into a Future
Compromised)

Picture Jezebel.
She was beautiful and distinguished by features which recommended her to Ahab. Kings, as you know, do not marry just anyone. They go for the best. Now, that was only a part of the picture.

In scripture, and apart from other perspectives to a life which could like that of Esther, have been dedicated to a noble cause, Jezebel was at least two things. She was a personality and represented a tendency.

In 1 Kings 19: 1-3, we see Jezebel the woman, wife and queen showing herself as the hawk behind the throne. Ahab the king and his backbone – the Baal prophets, had been worsted on Mount Carmel. Not one, two or three, but 450 of them were slain after the fire of the Lord fell to consume Elijah’s sacrifice. It was the climax of a long running battle. It had become important for God through his servant to prove Himself as the almighty before His people Israel, again!
