It was a monument to splendour, a country home of multiple rooms, and a testament to the fertile imagination of a well-paid architect. The high dome ceiling was one of many intricacies. But apart from the owner who peered from an otherwise lonely balcony, with both wife and children gone to other climes, the edifice was already showing signs of being an abandoned property even with the big man still alive.

“Vanity of vanities,” says the Preacher, “All is vanity.” – Ecclesiastes 12:8 (New King James Bible)
