The tiny two-day old baby lay on the settee, eyes closed to a world it was introduced to in a remarkable twist: it only experienced having a mother for 24 hours, being how long the mother survived childbirth. Now in the custody of relations, its head was placed below an open Psalm 34. It was a reminder that the only guarantee of life even for the survivor is the almighty who knows all things.
