Her little income did not deter what became a habit in giving, though she was dealing with total strangers she had to work with. Soon her place became a meeting point where people who would later hold the reins in the administration of the area, came for free food. Years later, one of them had to risk his career to ensure that her daughter benefited from exclusive privileges which her kith and kin would never have guaranteed.
