She managed a smile as she spoke about the child of her life who was now in the throes of a debilitating disease. As the discussion shifted to the former husband who abandoned her and child to their current dilemma, her mood changed to anger. It was difficult to imagine that there was a time when she agreed to live with the same man as wife!
