Her shut eyes were still, as the familiar voice tried to light up the room, in what could have been a moment of cheer. The gadgets here, had become part of a life accustomed to freedom. An occasional sign of discomfort, was the opportunity for a touch by loving hands. But as he prayed, about to step out for the night, she squeezed her eyes slightly open. The difficulty with what used to be a reflex action, was a wish for a past that was never to return.
