SON SHINE 755: COUNTERED

She was countered at the counter, her pleas ignored by the now irritated clerks – who had twice announced final boarding. As she clutched her ticket, probably trying to wake up to the reality of returning to the city, she watched, along with two similarly stranded passengers, as the aircraft glided to the runway. It never would have occurred to her that the hope she held in her hands, was to become irrelevant, when she  needed it most.
