The width of the pillars was testament to the volume of concrete, rods and piling invested. Its first floor had the trappings of yet another architectural showpiece, with abundant evidence from the signage right in front, of experts at work. But the enthusiasm had waned, and despite its relative freshness, signs were that the hope of its promoters had suffered hiccups. The design was for another skyscraper in this elite neighbourhood, but this one appeared already destined for the dustbin of optimism.
