SON SHINE 567: REPLACED

He had a leading to preach as he travelled the inter-state highway but he hesitated only for another passenger to start sharing the gospel of Jesus shortly thereafter. He was still counting his loss when the vehicle made a stopover and his replacement ordered for and consumed items which raised doubts about his salvation and reminded the brother that God in His Almightiness can decide to use just any vessel to make a point.

“And Samuel said, Hath the Lord as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, as in obeying the voice of the Lord? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to hearken than the fat of rams… And Samuel said unto Saul, I will not return with thee: for thou hast rejected the word of the Lord, and the Lord hath rejected thee from being king over Israel.” – 1 Samuel 15:22, 26 (KJV)

SON SHINE 566: WILLFUL

He pressured his wife to quit the place of favour only for things to turn for the worse when his expectations were dashed in his new destination. In the heat of the ensuing challenge, the family had a second chance with both of them finding succour with the helper whom God used initially showing up this time to support not just one of them but the couple into a new lease and new hope.

SON SHINE 565: CALM

As the aircraft cruising at 33,000 feet rocked and rolled and the girl across the aisle shut her eyes apparently praying the young hostess paced checking if seat belts were fastened while the toddler by my side continued the conversation with his young and calm mother oblivious of goings on. As the storm continued to make a statement, the pilot came on air announcing the landing which was still quite a while away and wished all a pleasant weekend.

SON SHINE 564: EXCLAIMER

The airport departure lounge was full this afternoon when the public power supply went off. As the airport generator came on and electricity was restored a lady passenger instinctively exclaimed “up NEPA!” Years of unsteady supply had turned any restoration of power supply into a celebration by children and adults alike so ingrained that the abundance of this heart spilled even in the full view of the privileged a number of whom are often removed from the reality of fluctuating power supply.

SON SHINE 563: GLITTER

The state-of-the-art facility brimmed with the rich and the hopeful this late morning. The place had become the choice destination for pilgrims some of whom just fed their curiosity marvelling at the wonders of technology and frenzy. But as the opportunity availed to check out a space to the rear of the massive structure, it was a different deal entirely. The walls here were not even cemented and all that stared was space and echoes on a lonely corridor.

But the Lord said unto Samuel, Look not on his countenance, or on the height of his stature; because I have refused him: for the Lord seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the Lord looketh on the heart.” – 1 Samuel 16:7 (KJV)

SON SHINE 562: ANGEL

SON SHINE 562: ANGEL

As the mob, unaware of what really transpired surrounded this pastor with intent to lynch him someone emerged to calm them and absolve him of any blame for the accident.  Another car had overtaken three commercial motorcyclists in a dangerous manner following which they crashed into themselves and the pastors’ car which was coming from behind ran into the motorcyclists who sustained serious injuries. It was the second time the pastor was escaping with his life through an angelic intervention.

SON SHINE 561: CHUBBY

The chubby girl looked quite normal in her mother’s company until she sat on their luggage and started rolling on the floor with laughter and excitement.   As passengers queued for boarding passes casting glances at the girl she too was probably wondering why these adults could not enjoy their space under the sun at this gathering of the privileged.

SON SHINE 560: TEA BREAK

She was the first to get on the queue during the tea break at the workshop at a time when her colleagues concluded that she was or ought to be fasting. When they queried her, she asked them if fasting was by force. She proceeded to collect her snacks and tea and bounced to her seat cheerfully.

“Moreover when ye fast, be not, as the hypocrites, of a sad countenance: for they disfigure their faces, that they may appear unto men to fast. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.” – Matthew 6: 16 (KJV)

So, what type of fast do you observe?

SON SHINE 559: FLIGHTY

SON SHINE 559: FLIGHTY

It had taken a full five hours of wait for the flight which eventually landed before midnight. The only remarkable development was a turbulence which was over even while the pilot was asking passengers to tighten their seatbelts. Although we met a destination already in sleep mode the relief was more in the safe trip than in the inconsistencies of the airline.

He successfully pretended to be born again and joined and continued in the church till he secured the consent of this dedicated female minister in marriage. It was a dream come true for her till the wedding when he started to unveil creating for the woman the worst nightmare of her life complete with regular physical and psychological abuse. He returned to the terrible habits of a past she never knew till he was consumed during one of his outings.
