He had been escorted into his official car by fawning aides, when the top official suddenly disembarked and headed back to a man now huddled at the rear. The exchange of pleasantries took minutes but the official was encouraging a man he apparently had been close to before getting to high office. He was not ashamed to identify with a sick friend in the full view of the public.
