The first eatery so reeked of tobacco that we exited barely a minute after entering while the next one built with patches of dated corrugated roofing sheets had four men looking like they could be dangerous. It took us minutes before cautiously exchanging greetings with our table mates after gingerly taking our seats. We ate without an incidence but never quite stopped thinking of some possibility given the town?s reputation as a den of kidnappers.
