There was this eerie silence around the building, which the guide had drawn attention to from an adjoining street minutes earlier. Nothing else gave it away as a temporary habitation of the dead whose new status demanded their relocation from family, friends and enemies. Here was that terminus before a final trip to the valley of dry bones, even as the soul returns to the creator who patiently awaits the once powerful, the believing, and those who ignore the truth that they are just flesh and blood.
