Expectation hung in the air, as the packed hall of family and friends, savoured the taunts and jabs of the comedian who anchored the day of the toddlers. In recitations after fancy foot works, and renditions borne of innocence, adults hovered between laughter, and reflections on their own era of the slate and chalk. Now with a population of hundreds, the school had just one student, in its first two years.

If God told you, it will come to pass
