His aspiration was the pull and he had become visible. Those who mattered took note, bidding their time. Then the principalities approached him with the conditions required for him to make progress in the race. Compliance at each stage turned out to be a bait, until after the third stage when he was told that it wasn’t yet his turn. He had lost his soul before it dawned on him that desperation has consequences.   

“And it is true that the citizens of this world are more clever [in dishonesty!] than the godly are. But shall I tell you to act that way, to buy friendship through cheating? Will this ensure your entry into an everlasting home in heaven?”  Luke 16:8-9 (The Living Bible)
