He was really excited about the prophecy which projected that he was going to succeed in life. Then he got impatient, opting to hobnob with the principalities and rulers of the darkness of this world, to leapfrog into the future. The rituals boomeranged, and he ran mad, becoming a neighbourhood spectacle and the butt of taunts. He never recovered till he lost the race to the dream that never materialised.

“Trust God from the bottom of your heart; don’t try to figure out everything on your own. Listen for God‘s voice in everything you do, everywhere you go; he’s the one who will keep you on track.“ Proverbs 3:5-6 (The Message Bible)
