It was the type of neighbourhood where owning a generating set was a privilege, and the man next door was determined to enjoy his new acquisition, leaving it on for most of the first week after purchase. When the engine went off, the owner assumed that the fuel tank was empty. By the time he got there, thieves had disconnected the machine and disappeared with it.
