A pastor had encouraged him to go ahead since according to him it was an ordinary oath while another pastor advised him against the move noting that it was a matter of the soul. It was supposed to be the last requirement for clinching the appointment. The candidate eventually declined the offer assured that the attractions of the office would never equate with his allegiance to His creator whose favour is sufficient to eventually override the conditions of the principalities and powers of this world.
