The sighting of the lone rat in the kitchen was the trigger for what turned out to be a game of wits after previous phases where rats created problems and all inlets and outlets were under watch to prevent a re-invasion. The rat would eventually bite the bait of attempting to eat from the left overs by the sink with a sudden turning on of the lights forcing it into a space from which it would never recover. Even before rats were announced as the advertised vessels of epidemics rocking nations, the household had already learnt not to take rats for granted.
