The cloud thickened, turning dark grey, and appearing to rush at the
aircraft which pressed through its hollow frame. It was the approach
to touchdown. The shift from the grey, sometimes ashy balls of cloud,
had flashes of light interrupting a sudden near eclipse. The darkest
part of the flight then unveiled, followed by a final opening,
signalling final descent on the home stretch, as the tires screeched
on impact on the runway.

“And when neither sun nor stars in many days appeared, and no small
tempest lay on us, all hope that we should be saved was then taken
away.”  Acts 27:20 (King James Version)

That it got darker, does not mean the journey has ended
