It was the destination of the desperate, with an organised environment where most knew what to do, and the ignorant paid heavily for indiscretions. But as the weather flipped and flopped this night, with the dwindling number of those still out, hurrying home, she sat on the floor, with an upper body bare of clothing, and a plastic sheet assuring some dignity. Her home was the street, unprotected from the vagaries of inclement weather. Citizenship and colour made no difference to the vulnerability of a famished soul.
