The number of nests suggested that the birds that created them, had a mission. The effect was obvious, as the trees struggled, while still retaining a fair amount of greenery. But that was to change in months, as the cages simply disappeared, and the trees blossomed: the rainy season welcomed the return of their luxuriant foliage.
