In minutes, they swarmed the space just below the altar. It was time for thanksgiving, and the teenagers went full-force in solos, fancy footwork and choreographed group formations. It was an unwritten competition between the boys and the girls, and it all had the feel of a carnival, with the girls at some point having an unrehearsed but really awesome 8-some. The sweat flowed to match the energy, and their parents and the elderly watched, swaying and smiling their consent at what their feet could no more quite afford.
