Its lobby radiated exclusiveness, calm and order, and the marble floor glistened with the light glow from overhanging chandeliers which complemented the mild feel from controlled central air-conditioning. As foreigners and nationals smelling comfort and affluence, disembarked from a variety of cars and headed for the reception, what was obvious was an ambience which tended to put a lie to common talk and the media frenzy about a recession. Over here, recession was clearly on recess.
