SON SHINE 763: OLD

She stood by a pillar as more guests filed into the expansive church. Music from the organ blared, with the congregation singing a popular hymn. As she sighted a familiar face, the elderly lady sprang towards him, till the cautionary voice of her younger companion urged a retreat. Her glazed eyes as she returned to her position, spoke of a personality wearied by the strains of times and seasons. The same child she used to guide her every step, now determined her reactions.

“… when you were younger, you girded yourself and walked where you wished; but when you are old, you will stretch out your hands, and another will gird you and carry you where you do not wish.” John 21:18 (New King James Bible)

What a life!
