As he cleared the stable, dumping what had become litter, and setting aside the valued for those who should own them, the lone sheet floated into view. It was in her unique handwriting, and had just two sentences – one a bible verse, the other an admonition. It turned out to be her parting shot, from one of her routine scribblings, as she probably listened to a message in church, or over television. Whenever he read the note which occupied a treasured space in the middle of his prized Bible, it was her voice that rang through.
