SON SHINE 404: CRAWLING MEN

The cab was cruising on this highway till the driver suddenly slowed down to a crawl. He was on a stretch of the road controlled by men in uniform whose antecedents did not entertain contrary behaviour. Any driver who chose to be daring could with his vehicle become a statistic for the boys. As soon as he passed the no-speed zone however, the driver re-discovered the excitement of stepping hard on the accelerator.

“And I say unto you my friends, Be not afraid of them that kill the body, and after that have no more that they can do. But I will forewarn you whom ye shall fear: Fear him, which after he hath killed hath power to cast into hell; yea, I say unto you, Fear him.” – Luke 12: 4-5 (KJV)

Fear the great God who owns that boss you fear so much.

Let the Son shine in your heart daily.

SON SHINE 403: AGAIN

It was 9.30pm when the couple on their first-ever visit strolled in and after a preamble by the wife, handed the keys of the almost new car to me. The trigger for the decision was according to her during my invitation to their church when God told her to give me the car. Her husband aligned with the leading. By that date the calls to change our old car had become a chorus.

“Ho, every one that thirsteth, come ye to the waters, and he that hath no money; come ye, buy, and eat; yea, come, buy wine and milk without money and without price..” – Isaiah 55: 1 (KJV)

He is able to answer the questions men ask about you.

Let the Son shine in your heart daily.

SON SHINE 402: THE CHAMPION

He was the school sprints champion despite his height. It was amazing what he did once the whistle went off. He would ease himself effortlessly to the front of the pack, leaving the field of longer legs to struggle for other positions. Neither raw ability, nor any known quality could explain what years later remained a wonder that could only have been divine.

“When I consider thy heavens, the work of thy fingers, the moon and the stars, which thou hast ordained; What is man…” – Psalm 8: 3-4 (KJV)

 He remains God.

Let the Son shine in your heart daily.

SON SHINE 401: LIGHT BEARER

The well-dressed gentleman alighted from a bus and spat on the clean floor of the petrol station as vehicles queued for fuel. A commercial motorcyclist damned the silence of other onlookers and dared the offender insisting that he must clear the mess. When the man found that the motorcyclist was unrelenting and threatening to roughen him up, he swallowed his pride and stylishly undid what he had done.

“What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound?  God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein?” – Romans 6: 1-2 (KJV)

You are an ambassador for Christ,

Let the Son shine in your heart daily.

SON SHINE 400: HAIRBREADTH

As the crisis raged in a section of town just before their residence trapping his wife, his voice told of subdued desperation. Somehow the rage abated and he managed to ferry her to a safe zone before the resumption of full-scale hostilities. That lull made all the difference to his not becoming a widower so early in the day. Many others became part of the statistics which peace talks did not restore back to life.

“Be strong and of a good courage, fear not, nor be afraid of them: for the Lord thy God, he it is that doth go with thee; he will not fail thee, nor forsake thee.” – Deuteronomy 31: 6 (KJV)

There is nothing God cannot do for your sake.

Let the Son shine in your heart daily.
