The wall was a dour version of its original brilliant white gloss, just like the now dull red wide-span aluminium roofing. The paved entrance to its imposing gate was overgrown with weeds and indications were that the massive structure had no occupant. It was one in a series of unoccupied mansions littering these parts. Two plots away from the unoccupied house, another mansion was nearing completion – another monument to vanity
